Citrus Bioflavonoid Complex
Citrus bioflavonoid complex consists of various water-soluble bioflavonoids found in citrus family fruits. In the plant world, bioflavonoids contribute to many physiological functions, such as producing yellow and/or red/blue pigmentation and warding off plant pathogens. As nutrients in the body, bioflavonoids are compounds with powerful antioxidant properties; however, it is thought that their more important actions may be as cell-signalling, or "biological response modifiers."
Researches believe much of the health benefits of bioflavonoids derive from their anti-allergenic, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties. Citrus bioflavonoids, in addition to antioxidant properties, have the ability to increase intracellular levels of vitamin C and exert positive effects on capillary permeability and blood flow.
